Manager Resources

WELCOME MANAGERS!

First and most of all, we would like to thank you for taking on the responsibility for your son or daughter’s team as team manager.  We know that it’s not always easy, and is often a thankless job.  But without Team Managers our son or daughter's team wouldn’t be able to run smoothly and as successfully as they do.  This page was created to be a resource for all new and returning managers.  If you can not find what you are looking for in the information below, please feel free to email Cheri Giltner at cheri.giltner@legendsfc.net

FAQ

What is a manager’s binder?

You will be required to put together a binder of all important information to have with you at all times.  Below is a list of the required and non-required, yet useful, items you should have in your binder.

  • Player Cal South medical release form and birth certificate copies (REQUIRED) – your new seasonal year forms will come from the office a week or two prior to the start of of the fall SCDSL season.

  • Cal South Player Cards (REQUIRED) – your new seasonal year player cards will come from the office a week or two prior to the start of of the fall SCDSL season.

  • SCDSL Referee Fees– Keep checking back until SCDSL posts the current year’s fee schedule.

SCDSL Game Day Procedures– Keep checking back until SCDSL posts the current game day procedures.

What is considered the club season?

Your season will start at the conclusion of tryouts, and go until your team’s State Cup/National Cup is over.  Any spring league and/or tournament(s) your team plays in will be determined by your coach.  ALL teams play in the SCDSL for the fall season, which will start the weekend after Labor Day, and run till the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.  State Cup/National Cup will start sometime in January, February, March, or April depending on your age and level.

Cal South vs. SCDSL

Cal South is the sanctioning body of different gaming leagues, such as SCDSL and CSL.  All players are registered through Cal South.  All player cards are issued through Cal South, and the gaming leagues will use these cards.  SCDSL is a gaming league in which Legends FC plays in for the fall league season.

Cal South rosters vs. SCDSL rosters.

The club will input and manage your Cal South Roster.  This is the roster that will be used for State/National Cup, or California Regional League where applicable.  You will be responsible for inputting your SCDSL roster.  This is the roster that your league match reports will be generated from.  You will receive an email from Angela Wright when it’s time to do that along with the instructions on how to do it.

How do I get a player card for one of my players?

There are 3 types of cards; Fall, Spring and Summer.  All cards are good until August 31st.  The cost of a card is $30.  One Fall card is included with each player’s commitment AND registration with the club.  Your new fall cards will be distributed to you a week or two prior to the start of the fall SCDSL season.

If it’s a new player that has never played club, he should fill out a Cal South Player Registration Form.  Email it to Cheri Giltner (cheri.giltner@legendsfc.net), along with their birth certificate and a headshot of the player.  If it’s not for a fall card that is included in their registration, you’ll need to collect $30 from the parent.

If the player is coming from another club and it’s before August 1st, the player should get their player card from their previous club.  If they cannot get their card from their previous club, they will need to fill out a Cal South Player Registration Form.  Email it to Cheri Giltner (cheri.giltner@legendsfc.net), along with a headshot of the player.  If it’s not for a fall card that is included in their registration, you’ll need to collect $30 from the parent.

What should I include in my team budget?

To make it easier on yourself, include anything and everything you can think of that might cause you and/or the team a cost.  Things to take into consideration:

  • Tournaments, and/or gaming leagues other than the fall SCDSL season.

  • Coach hotel costs when traveling further than 60 miles for a tournament or any other multi-day event.  If the coach is taking multiple teams to the same tournament, coordinate with the other team’s manager to split the cost.  Coach’s should not be paying for their rooms and being reimbursed.  Managers are responsible for booking and setting up payment directly with the hotel.  Hotels are NOT the team’s responsibility during the SCDSL season games.

  • Team Equipment (Anything that belongs to the team, not coach.  i.e. canopy, bench, loaner uniforms, etc)

  • Golf tournament requirements.  Amount will depends on the age.

  • Teams are NOT required to pay for coach’s equipment such as balls, cones, goals, etc.  Any equipment that the team does pay for belongs to the teams, not the coach.

Do I need a Legends Bank Account, and how do I get one?

YES.  Since you are collecting monies under the Legends FC’s 501(c), and we have a duty to report these monies to the government, you are required to obtain a bank account under the Legends FC banking umbrella.  It’s also an added convenience for you, since come fall season it will be necessary for us to transfer referee fees into your account.  It also allows you be able to authorize the office to pull money from your account whenever necessary.  The office will never pull money from your account without a written notification and authorization.  To obtain a bank account, please contact Chris Ramirez (chris.ramirez@legendsfc.net) AND Angela Wright (angela.wright@legendsfc.net) via email.  You will be required to obtain your Live Scan prior to opening an account.

Can I have my own bank account?

NO.  Since you are collecting monies under the Legends FC’s 501(c), and we have a duty to report these monies to the government, you are required to obtain a bank account under the Legends FC banking umbrella.

What is TeamSnap?

TeamSnap is a free online scheduling tool, with a free mobile app, that all teams MUST sign up for.  It’ll give your parents 24/7 access to all training times, and game information; including uniform info and field and address info.  No more looking through emails looking for dates, times and addresses.  Once you input your roster, you can send out individual invites.  Please make sure you add your Regional DOC as a non-player so he/she always has your game information so they can coordinate their schedules.

How do I add a player to our roster?

All roster adds need to be emailed to the proper office staff by your coach.  Managers cannot send an email requesting a player add.

What do I do if a player leaves or gets dropped from our roster?

Only a coach can drop a player from your roster, and that will be communicated to the office by the coach.  If a player leaves or gets dropped, it is required that you turn their card and paperwork into the office.  DO NOT give it to the player or the player’s parent(s).  Please direct them to the office.  They need to be cleared by the office, before getting their Legends Card.

What is our team’s responsibility with Legends Tournaments?

Each player’s parent(s) are responsible for a 3-4 hour shift at our Legends tournaments;  Legends Classic (May), and the Legends College Showcase.  A month prior to the tournament each player as option to buyout for a predetermined price.  The week of each tournament, you will get an email from the tournament director of your teams’ shift schedule.  It is your responsibility to assign those shifts, or let parents pick their shifts, and send the completed shift schedule back.  If you or one of your parents have more than one player in the club, you/they will be responsible for fulfilling a shift for each player.  Our tournament director does her VERY best to make sure all group play shifts are around their player’s game schedule, and that each team has a weekday shift.  However, later in the tournament where games are all dependent on group play, it’s nearly impossible for her to schedule around game times.

What is our teams responsibility with the Legends Golf Tournament?

In the beginning of November, we have our only club fundraiser where each team is required to donate certain things depending on their team’s age.  You can either ask your team for donations based on the requirements, or you can collect for the total cost of those requirements and as the manager fulfill the list.  See Link above for team requirements.

How do I get field for a scrimmage?

Please email Angela Wright (angela.wright@legendsfc.net)

What is a club pass during the Fall SCDSL season?

During league, Legends players can play with other Legends teams under the club pass rule.  However, they are only allowed to play in one game per day.  This rule was implemented by SCDSL to promote development, and will be used as seen fit by your coach and/or DOC.  Your coach will communicate this to you AND the office.  It will be your responsibility as the manager to make sure any club passed players are added to your match report and you obtain the player’s player card and paperwork.

How do my parents/players log-in to make a payment?

After a player has been sent an invite to join a team and they have logged in, they can access their account at anytime.  Players that need to complete the club registration and/or make an online payment you can send them this link to log back in… https://members.legendsfc.net.  Or they can find the link on the front of the website in the bottom right hand corner under Quicklinks labeled “Player Registration Login
