Mitchell Receives Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award

San Diego State women’s soccer forward Angela Mitchell received the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award, which is presented to student-athletes of color who exhibit academic excellence and community activism.

To be eligible for this honor, candidates must compete in an intercollegiate sport, maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20, and be active on their campuses or in their communities.

Mitchell, who completed her senior season in the NCAA tournament back in November, played in 82 games over four seasons at SDSU and tallied 19 goals, including nine game-winners, and two assists for 40 points. Her 19 career goals ranks tied for ninth in Aztec history.
