The Los Angeles Legends came out of the gate flying with numerous attacks, corner kicks, and set-pieces. Legends fans were convinced they would get the result. In the 44th minute, the momentum changed when attacking central midfielder, Brian Fakkema, went down with an injury to his knee. Not sure if he could re-enter the match, the Legends continued to play a man short as it was just before the half. The LA Legends entered half-time down by 1, but still anxous to create a US Open Cup upset - a PDL team beating a professional USL-2 team. The play remained full-speed with scoring opportunities from both teams. However, in the 59th minute of the match Legends player, Ross Schunk was shown a straight red card and ejected from the match. The score remained tied 1-1 with minutes left on the clock. Fans were anticipating over-time, when once again, a long throw-in proved deadly. Crystal Palace’s Andrew Marshall launched a throw to Pat Healey who finished his second goal of the evening.
