Pictured above is Kamryn Gooden from the U11 Girls Black Team. With less than a minute to play in the final league game, Gooden put a corner kick in the net and sealed the win and the Championship!

We are pleased to announce very positive results including: 9 League Champions, 3 undefeated teams, 17 teams in position to be promoted, and no teams in position for relegation. In addition, we had 8 teams reach the semi-finals in League Cup. Four of those teams finished as Finalists.

This fall Legends FC has 2 teams competing in the CSL Premier League: U17 girls coached by Josh Hodges and U16 boys coached by Billy Bizzaro. Teams play at the Oaks Polo Fields in Rancho Capistrano.

Each week a new issue of CSL Premier Magazine is available, featuring photos and team bios. Recently, Legends midfielder Hannah Gjerde made the cover.

The Legends Girls U11 Black team coached by Erika Prado are CSL Silver East Champions. The girls scored 18 goals and gave up 11 in a tightly contested battle among four teams. The championship was decided with less than a minute to go in the final game of the season when the girls converted a corner kick to win the game and the bracket. Great job girls! The team is managed by Sharon Muise.

In an impressive outing, the U16 Boys team take home the Irvine Classic Championship. The team is coached by Esteban Villanueva and managed by Dave Curry. The boys scored 18 goals and allowed only 5 against.

The U12 Girls White team "had an impressive weekend," according to our  sources. The girls scored 9 goals and allowed 3 against. This championship comes on the heels of their shut-out performance at Capo Cup several weeks prior. Despite allowing no goals the U12s finished as Capo Cup finalists via pk shootout.  The U12s are coached by John King and managed by Marlene Sandoval.

The U9 Boys shut out Corona 7-0 in the Chelsea Cup Final after tieing the team 4-4 in group play. "The boys didn’t let the other team play their game like they did the first time around," saya Coach Jerry Laterza. "The kids were pumped and very aggressive."  Oscar Velazquez scored a hat-trick plus two (5 goals total!) in the final. "If anyone wants to see a kid play like an adult ... this kid is the one!" says Laterza. Velasquez was MVP of the tournament. The team is managed by Kelli Dunaway.

The U17 Girls Black Team had a sweet victory, beating longtime rivals Brea Blaze 1-0 in the Chelsea Cup Final. The Legends team had lost to Brea during pool play. "The girls played very good soccer! They are looking great for league!" says Coach Jerry Laterza. The team is managed by Carrie Aiu.

The U11 Boys team cap off their summer with yet another championship, beating West Coast 2-1 in the NHB final. The boys had a fantastic warm-up for league play this fall, winning 4 of the 5 tournaments they played: Santa Barbara, Legends Classic, Pegasus and Surf Cup. "The team will go into league trying to 3-peat as league champs in a very competitive Gold division,"  says Coach Cesar Gutierrez...

"Winning the NHB Tournament was not as easy task," says Coach Hector Alcantar.  "The Legends U13 Boys played with lots of class and determination all weekend." Competing against many of the top teams in California, the U13s allowed only 1 goal total in all six matches. "That was a very impressive feat that could only be accomplished through at total team effort," says Alcantar. This is the same team that is also the 2008 Far West Regional Finalist.

The U10 girls coached by Chris Ramos and Rafik Tadros have won back to back tournament championships. On consecutive weekends the team took home  championships in both the Cyprus Cup and Irvine FC Showcase. The girls are currently on a 9 game winning streak. Their next tournament will be the NHB Cup on August 23-24. The team is managed by Teri George. More action shots on team page!

Legends FC is proud to send six teams to one of the nation’s most prestigious youth soccer tournaments - SURF CUP, held each year at the polo fields in Del Mar, just north of San Diego.

The high school weekend is particularly exciting as 100+ college coaches  from across the nation, typically arrive to scout the players. U17s: Be sure to update college coaches on your game schedule.

Congratulations to the U14 Boys Team coached by Ish Castellanos and managed by Jeff Sakiri.

The U14s shut-out Corinthians 1-0 in the final on Sunday, July 6. The team will play silver in league playing beginning this fall.

The Legends FC U13 Boys Black allowed just one goal against, throughout the entire tournament. They played Slammers North in the final, a team which had previously beaten them in league play. The U13 Boys are coached by Hector Alcantar.

On July 12-13, 2008 two members of the World Champions ’86 team of ARGENTINA (Sergio Batista & Jose Luis Brown) visit the southland for a soccer symposium hosted by Legends FC. 

Both of these coaches are responsible for ALL OF THE YOUTH ARGENTINA NATIONAL TEAMS and are heading the Sub-23 Argentina National Team that will compete in the Beijing Olympics this summer defending the Gold Medal obtained in Athens only 4 years ago.  Both of them currently coach the likes of Messi, Aguero, Tevez and the rest of the jewels of their National Team.

The U16 Boys (next year’s U17s) coached by Jerry Laterza, had a sizzling weekend at US Club Soccer Regionals, June 21-24 in San Bernadino, CA. 

The team allowed just 2 goals in 5 matches, and shut-out Crusaders CSC 2-0 in the U16 Boys Super Group Championship.

A Regional Championship qualifies teams to compete in US Club Soccer’s National Cup. The 2008 National Cup VII FInals is held July 26-29 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The U12 Boys coached by Hector Alcantar, advanced all the way to the championship match, losing 1-3 to West Coast FC.  The U16 Girls coached by Josh Hodges, bowed out in the quarter-finals, going down against Real So Cal, a team they had both beaten and tied in league play.  Cal South teams dominated play, and brought home the most championships (10),  followed by Cal North (3), Arizona (2), and Colorado (1).

After a warm-up championship at the Legends Classic, the U12 boys head off to Hawaii, to compete in US Youth Soccer’s Far West Regional Championships.  They will play their preliminary matches against WSM Barca (OR), Downtown LVSC Gold (NV), and the Tuzos Pachuca 96 (AZ).

The team is pictured above at the Legends Classic with the bronze U12 boys team. (They played each other in the final.) Both teams are coached by Hector Alcantar.

U16 Girls coached by Josh Hodges, begin their regional play on Monday, June 16th in Honolulu. Their first 3 matches are preliminaries, one per day Monday through Wednesday.

The Premier Cup involves over 6,000 teams from 40 countries and is open to only the very top U14/15 teams. Congratulations and welcome to the U10 Boys team coached by Cesar Gutierrez.  The boys topped Aztecs FC 4-1 in the championship match, scoring 18 goals for and 5 against in their State Cup run.

The team was also Coast League Champs.

Congratulations to: Meilessah Rangel, Emily Castellano,  Danielle Alvarez, and Lizette Luna on their selection to the "95" ODP Player Pool.

Out of the approximate 4,000 players in this age group only 75 were invited to the ODP Academy Training Weekends, held March 15-16 & 22-23...

A number of players have been involved in the ODP State, Regional and National Team programs. Kelsey Nicasio attended the ODP 92-94 player camp February 3rd-6th at Cocoa Expo in Cocoa, Florida. 

Roughly 300 players were invited, 100 from the ’92s and a combined 200 from the 93-94’s...

The U16 Boys Premier team is in Dallas this week, competing in the prestigious Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup. Last year the boys carried off the U15 Championship, beating out a very outstanding team from Frankfurt, Germany. Read full story...
