Youth Playing Experience: As a youth club player, Evans accumulated an impressive playing resume in the Olympic Development Program. (ODP). He was a member of the State & Regional ODP teams at the U15, U17 and U18 age groups. He was also the Team Captain on all but one of the State and Regional teams. At each of these age groups, he was selected to the National Pool, just steps below a selection to the US National Teams.
Evans grew up in
Pasadena , in a family of seven, including two brothers and three sisters, two of whom also played soccer. This kept Evans at the fields daily, allowing him to fine-tune his skills under the training of Coach Clint Greenwood. Even as a youth, Evans frequently trained four to five hours a day.
Collegiate & Semi-Pro Playing Experience: While completing his Physical Education degree from Azusa
Pacific
University, Evans racked up numerous honors: four-time All-American, three-time Regional MVP, and three-time League MVP. He also ranks just one point shy of being the APU all-time points leader in scoring and assists. Of note is the fact he achieved this honor from the position of center-mid, rather than forward.
After college, Evans played three years of semi-pro with the Southern California Seahorses, leading the team to the semi-finals in the Premier Development League. In 2007, Evans played with the LA Storm.
Fun Stuff: Evans estimates he knows around 100 moves. His favorite is the "sole behind drag."
